1) How does an Evaporative Air Cooler work?

An evaporative air cooler cools the air  by means of the evaporation of water. When water evaporates into the  air, the result is a mixture of air and water molecules. This chemical  change requires heat, thus energy or latent heat is taken from the air  molecules - dropping the actual temperature of the air.

2) Want to know why evaporation lowers temperature?

The process of evaporation happens all  the time. Our bodies, for example, perspire in hot weather; through  evaporation the sweat dries and drops our body temperature.Whenever dry  air passes over water, some of the water will be absorbed by the air.  That's why evaporative cooling naturally occurs near waterfalls, at  rivers, lakes and oceans.

3) How well do Evaporative Air Coolers cool and reduce the temperature?

The drop in temperature depends on various factors i.e. Air Temperature, % Relative Humidity Level, Room  Size, Degree of Insulation & Cross Ventilation. The temperature of  air coming out of an evaporative air cooler depends on the temperature  and the humidity of the air going in. The constant movement of the air  created by the blower - the cooling breeze it creates, makes the  occupants of a room feel 4 to 6 degrees cooler than the actual  temperature.Evaporative air coolers works best in the hottest time of  the day. As the temperature outside increases as the sun climbs, the humidity normally drops. In the early morning, for example, the  temperature may be 70 degrees, with a relative humidity of 60 percent.  By mid-afternoon, when the temperature has climbed to 90 degrees, the humidity may well have dropped to 30 percent - conditions that make  evaporative cooling work more effectively.

4) How to choose the right-sized evaporative air cooler?

Evaporative air coolers are rated by CFMs (the cubic feet per minute of air that the cooler can blow into your home. Whether it is for a small room or a whole house, there is a  simple formula to identify the proper size of evaporative air cooler you  need.

SQUARE FEET AREA X CEILING HEIGHT divide by 2 = CFM OF AIRFLOW NEEDED.

5) Why my unit is not an Air Conditioner?

An evaporative air cooler is not an air conditioner as it does not use a compressor and refrigerant gas. One should not expect an evaporative air cooler to work as effectively as  refrigerated air conditioning. However, the advantages of the evaporative  air cooler over refrigerated air conditioning are:

Low purchase cost, Low electricity usage, Environment friendly (No refrigerant gas) and Maximum portability

6) What is Honeycomb cooling media and how does it help in cooling the air?

Honeycomb evaporative cooling pads are  designed to provide maximum cooling, low pressure drop and years of reliable service. It is made from specifically engineered cellulose paper that is chemically treated to resist deterioration. Cross fluted, unequal angle pad design promotes the beneficial mixing of air and water for optimum cooling. This unique design also functions to continually direct more water to the air entering face of the pad, where the air is the hottest, driest, dirtiest and the most intense evaporation occurs.

7) How can I improve the performance of my Air Cooler?

a) Keep windows open for cross-ventilation .

b) Keep air vent free from any obstructions.

c) Make sure the water tank is filled with clean water.
